A suspect in West Warwick with connections to several break-ins has been arrested, police say.

On Monday morning, officers were alerted to reports of a suspicious male in the Fawn Lane area of the town. According to the resident that reported the man, he went to their door, then appeared to walk to another house. He left his car parked in the street.

Police searched the surrounding area with the assistance of Warwick Police and located 28-year-old Ryan Ruscetta of Coventry. An investigation showed three burglaries in the area, as well as the recovery of two firearms, jewelry and other stolen property. A media release sent out by the department stated that the homeowners had no idea about the robberies until police contacted them.

“I can’t stress enough the importance of calling the police when something seems wrong or out of place,” said Colonel Richard G. Silva, of the West Warwick Police Department. “Too many times people wait before calling the police. Not this time. Instead, a perceptive citizen called the police immediately, and our officers arrested the person responsible for breaking into three houses, and recovered two stolen firearms.”

Ruscetta was arraigned this morning in the 3rd Division District Court, with three counts of burglary.
