Providence Public Schools closed Friday, parking ban at 2 a.m.

Due to the winter blast expected Friday, Providence Public Schools and afterschool activities are canceled. A city-wide parking ban will begin at 2 a.m. on Friday and remain until further notice.
The Mayor’s office sent out a press release regarding the snow:
Residents with overnight parking passes are advised that they cannot park on the street during the duration of the citywide parking ban. All vehicles parked on the street in violation of the citywide parking ban will be ticketed and towed to ensure that roadways can be cleared.
Residents experiencing power outages should contact National Grid at 800-322-3223. Individuals are warned never to touch downed power lines and report downed lines to National Grid. In the event of an emergency, dial 911.
Garbage and recycling collection will go on as scheduled. In the event that collection cannot be completed, remaining collections will take place on Saturday, February 6.

The Department of Public Works has prepared all equipment and personnel to respond to the storm. Roadways will be pretreated ahead of the expected snowfall.
