State Lawmakers mourn passing of Buddy Cianci

State leaders are mourning the loss of Vincent "Buddy" Cianci. Many sharing memories about the man who was not only a cheerleader for Providence but also for the state of Rhode Island.
"An absolute one of a kind I doubt very much there will be another like him,” said Senate Majority Leader Dominick Ruggerio.
That sentiment shared all around the State House Thursday.
"There are a lot of people today that are in pain over the death of Buddy I being one of them," said Rep. Joe Trillo.
"He was a man that cared a great deal about the city of providence he loved the city of providence. He was a transformative figure in the city he really made it the modern city that it is today and the citizens of Providence owe him a debt of gratitude,” said House Speaker Nick Mattiello.
"He was a loyal person who cared about people that’s the personal side of buddy that I will remember."
Even those who had their differences with the mayor over the years admit his legacy in the city of Providence is strong.
"There’s one thing you have to admit you have to concede is that Buddy Cianci knew how to get it done,” said Rep. John Lombardi.
