Driver injured after serious accident in Woonsocket

A 38-year-old Blackstone man is in the hospital after he crashed his car in Woonsocket overnight.

Police say the responded to the accident just after 1:15 a.m. in the area of Cass Ave. and Cumberland Street.

Once on scene, officers found the pick-up truck on its side with the driver pinned between it and a parked vehicle he had struck.

The driver was airlifted to UMASS Memorial Medical Center. The extent of his injuries is not yet known.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
