Several people were transported by ambulance from a functional hall, following a carbon monoxide occurrence.

It happened around 9 p.m. Saturday at the Holy Ghost Hall on North Phillips Street, East Providence.

According to Police, first responders arrived to treat a person who passed out in the bathroom. Rescue officials recently began to carry carbon monoxide detectors on their equipment bags, which had gone off when they arrived at the hall.

Rescues from other towns responded to the scene and assisted with the transportation of 26 people to the hospital for treatment. About 250 people were at the event.

There were also 20 more people who transported their selves to the hospital, and four others who had gone home, then later called for help.

None of the victims have life threatening symptoms.

The incident remains under investigation, but fire officials believe that the carbon monoxide problem was caused by a heating appliance in the building.

The carbon monoxide levels detected inside the hall were as high as 317 PPM; a very dangerous amount, according to fire officials.
