A North Kingstown man has won $50,000 on a PowerBall ticket, one of two winners in Rhode Island.
Austin Barry, a CCRI student who plays for the college’s baseball team, purchased the winning ticket at the 7-Eleven on Post Road in North Kingstown. Barry says he plans to put the money towards his education and for sports equipment.
Another $50,000 winning ticket was sold at the Stop & Shop on West Main Road in Middletown. As of Thursday, it remained unclaimed.
Both winning tickets matched four numbers of the drawing and the PowerBall number.
Wednesday’s PowerBall jackpot has increased to an estimated $700 million for Saturday’s drawing–the largest jackpot in PowerBall history, and of any game in U.S. history. Tickets can be purchased up until 9:50 p.m. Saturday night.
