Suspect in attempted child abduction held without bail

The suspect in an attempted child abduction in Providence Tuesday night was held without bail at his arraignment Wednesday morning. 

Police say 33-year-old Roy Bautista, of Providence, tried luring a 9-year-old boy into his vehicle. He was taken into custody in Pawtucket around 8 p.m.

Earlier Tuesday, undercover narcotics officers were parked in an unmarked car at the corner of Social and Russo Streets off Charles Street when they observed Baustista in his vehicle pull up next to the child who had just been dropped off by a school bus.

The officers witnessed the boy look towards Bautista and shake his head "no."

Both officers immediately went after Baustisa on foot before he sped off towards North Providence, side-swiping a few cars in the city before getting away.

Bautista plead not guilty and was held as a bail violator. He his does back in court January 20.
