It’s hard to believe it’s Christmas Eve when it feels like spring outside. There’s no sign of Old Man Winter in Southern New England as record-breaking warmth calls of all dreams of a white Christmas.
"I lived in Florida for a little while. It does feel more like Christmas Eve in Florida," said one Rhode Islander.
But that’s just fine for locals that talked to ABC6 News, who prefer record-breaking heat to last year’s record-breaking snow.
"It’s hard for me to not get excited when it’s like this," said one local.
From kids at the playground to walkers in the park, many people were outside soaking up the warmth, and momentarily forgetting it’s actually winter.
"It’s fantastic. It’s a little scary but I’m enjoying it, so what else can you do?" said one walker.
"I just came outside to walk the dog and enjoy the nice weather," said another.
Golf balls replacing jingle bells and cars instead of sleighs. Stone-E-Lea Golf Course in Attleboro has had around a third more golfers this time of year.
"It does not feel like Christmas. Especially when you get to go golfing," said one golfer.
As the jackets stay off, a lone request for Old Man Winter for just a light dusting.
"I wouldn’t mind a little bit of snow and a little bit of cold and whatever you could call winter. And I mean a little bit," said another. "I’m just hoping that this doesn’t do to us what it did last winter."
If you want to keep enjoying this warmer weather, you’ll have to get out while you can, and it’ll be getting cooler next week.
