Family of five left homeless following house fire in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE)- A fire that broke out in a New Bedford home on Tuesday afternoon left a family of five homeless, according to the city’s fire department.

Firefighters responded to the home on Chancery Street at around 2:30 p.m. for the reported fire, according to Chief Scott Kruger.

The fire started inside of the second floor bathroom. It left the unit unlivable, Kruger said.

Kruger said that the family was home during the fire, but no one was hurt.
