SOMERSET, MASS. (WLNE)- The option to test-and-stay for students in Somerset Schools will be effective Wednesday.

The CDC has highlighted the use of test-to-stay practices as a way to minimize absences.

The Superintendent told Somerset Sentinel he’s excited to start the program.

“Instead of needing to quarantine and miss school, these students will take a daily rapid test while they remain in school as long as they are not symptomatic. Students participate in test and stay for at least five days after they may have been exposed,” says Superintendent, Jeffery Shoonover.

Parents have to consent to test on their child. If they don’t, the usual quarantine would still apply.
