A proud member of the NorthEnd Seahawks youth football program j tosses around a football in his living room. Last week the program’s storage unit was broken into thousands of dollars worth of equipment was stolen.
"It’s really bad and it’s really heartbreaking,"says AJ Marmolejos.
NorthEnd Seahawks President Ariel Marmolejos is the one who made the discovery that everything was gone.
"I was just kind of shocked, because who would want to do that you know?"says Marmolejos.
The program has several teams with kids 5 to 14 playing. Marmolejos says close to 100 helmets, and more than 70 sets of shoulder pads are missing.
Marmolejos calls this a huge set back, that goes deeper than just replacing the equipment.
"We have to have a banquet for these kids. Like I said, three teams of ours went to the Superbowl and actually wanted to do something big for these kids," adds Marmolejos.
If you have any information about the break-in you are asked to contact Providence Police or the NorthEnd Seahawks Facebook page at http://on.fb.me/1QRmNbY
