Arrest made in Coventry assisted living facility fire

Police have arrested a woman following a fire at an assisted living facility in Coventry Friday morning.

Crews responded to the fire at Summer Villa assisted living on Laurel Avenue around 4:30 a.m. and quickly extinguished the flames, which were contained to two separate resident rooms. No one was injured, and police say the damage was minimal.

58 residents were evacuated and temporarily transferred to the Coventry Senior Center.

After investigating, police deemed the fire suspicious and arrested the suspect, who is also a resident of the facility. She is currently hospitalized and faces criminal charges.

The matter still remains under investigation.
