Barrington student accused of posting disturbing Snapchat

Just before the Thanksgiving holiday a student at Barrington High School is accused of sending out a disturbing Snapchat. Barrington Schools Superintendent, Michael Messore, tells ABC 6 News that the student was holding some weapons in the message and wrote a comment reading something like "Can I bring these to school tomorrow?"

"This incident was handled very quickly,” said Messore.

A student who saw the Snapchat immediately told school administrators. From there Messore says the school’s resource officer quickly got the Barrington Police Department involved.

"By midday they had already deemed that this was not a threat to the school,” said Messore.

Messore is commending the student who reported that message saying he wants others to know that was the right thing to do.

"I can’t stress enough how important it is no matter how large or small an incident maybe to go to a trusted adult in the building,” said Messore.

Messore could not comment on whether the student behind this threat is back in school.
