Massachusetts state police, New Bedford police and the Bristol County DA are searching for the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run Saturday morning.
Police say a man suffered from life threatening injuries after he was struck by what they believe to be a BMW X5, or a similar SUV, around 2:10 a.m. on Route 18 near the Route 195 on-ramps.
The victim was taken to St. Luke’s hospital but later transferred to Rhode Island Hospital.
Authorities say the SUV fled the scene, by taking the Route 195 West on-ramp, after striking the pedestrian. It had multiple passengers inside.
The vehicle has front-end damage and could possibly have a leaking radiator.
If anyone has information they are urged to call state police at 508-993-8373 or New Bedford police at 508-991-6300.
