Brown Receiver Alex Jetti of North Attleboro Named First Team All-Ivy

Providence, R.I. – Six members of the Brown football team have earned All-Ivy honors for the 2015 season in a vote by the eight Ancient Eight head football coaches. Bears’ junior wide receiver and return specialist Alexander Jette (North Attleboro, MA) was a First Team All-Ivy selection as a wide receiver and Honorable Mention All-Ivy honoree as a return specialist. Senior wide receiver Troy Doles (Satatoga, CA) and senior inside linebacker William Twyman (Sudbury, MA) earned Second Team All-Ivy honors, while junior offensive linemen Dakota Girard (Wellfleet, MA) and Matthew Girard (Holoyoke, MA), along with junior defensive end Richard Jarvis (Watertown, MA) were Honorable Mention All-Ivy selections.
Jette a First Team All-Ivy selection in 2013 and a Second Team All-Ivy choice in 2014, ranked 11th in the nation and second in the Ivy League with 6.8 receptions per game. He led the Ivy League and ranked 23rd nationally in All-Purpose yards with 130.60, and was 13th nationally in receiving yards with 92.8 yards per game. Jette was selected the New England Player of the Week (Gold Helmet) after making 16 catches for 216 yards against Holy Cross. His 16 receptions rank seventh in the Brown record book, while his 216 receiving yards are ninth all-time at Brown. Jette, a Business Economics concentrator, was named the Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week after Brown’s win over Princeton where he returned the opening kick-off 99 yards for a touchdown.
Twyman led the Bears and ranked fourth in the Ivy League with 77 total tackles, including 44 solo hits. He registered 5.0 tackles for a loss of 17 yards and had two quarterback sacks. Twyman, a Business, Entrepreneurship and Organizations concentrator stepped up in Brown’s season ending win over Columbia with a career high 20 tackles, including 13 solo hits. He also posted big games with 11 tackles vs. Harvard and 10 tackles against Princeton.
A standout wide receiver for the Bears, Doles had 96.3 receiving yards per game, 10th best in the nation and second in the Ivy League. Doles also ranked 16th in the nation with 6.6 catches per game. He made nine catches for 112 yards in Brown’s win over Holy Cross and excelled vs. Rhode Island with nine catches for 127 yards and a 20-yard touchdown. A Business, Entrepreneurship and Organizations concentrator, Doles hauled in six catches for 147 yards against Bryant, including an 83-yard touchdown catch, the third longest reception in Brown history.
Jarvis had a break-out year for the Bears and led the defensive front with 34 total tackles and ranked second on the Brown team with 6.5 tackles for a loss of 37 yards. A Biology concentrator at Brown, he intercepted a pass vs. Dartmouth, and was credited with a 10-yard sack for a safety against Holy Cross. Jarvis paced the Bears with a career high nine tackles vs. Penn, including one for a loss.
Left tackle Dakota Girard, a Business Economics and CoSIDA Academic All-District selection and right tackle Matthew Girard, a Health and Human Biology concentrator, helped the Bears to the nation’s 12th leading passing offense, second in the Ivy League, with 288.5 yards per game. The duo also played a key role in allowing less than one sack (0.9) per game, which led the Ivy League and ranked seventh in the nation. Overall, the Bears offensive line only allowed 4.4 tackles for a loss each game, ninth best nationally.
Brown finished fourth in the Ivy League in 2015 and posted a 5-5 overall record, its ninth straight season of .500 or better under head coach Phil Estes.
