Police investigate homicide at Brooklawn park

New Bedford – Police are investigating a homicide, which occurred late Saturday evening.

An unresponsive man was found in the parking lot of Brooklawn park around 11 p.m. Saturday. The man was 66-year-old Donald DePina, of New Bedford.

DePina was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment of an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 12:08 a.m. today.

The state Medical Examiner’s Office has taken custody of the deceased and will perform an autopsy.

Officials determined no further information can be released at this time.
