Reports: David Ortiz To Retire After 2016 Season

Multiple reports Tuesday saying Red Sox DH David Ortiz will retire from baseball after the 2016 season. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports was first to report the news, and USA Today saying an official announcement is expected Wednesday, which happens to be Big Papi’s 40th birthday.

Ortiz is a nine-time all-star, six-time silver slugger, and has hit 503 career home runs. He’s spent 13 of his 19 big league season in Boston with the Red Sox.
