Garage fire in Smithfield requires multiple fire crew response

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE)- A fire inside a garage broke out on Rocky Hill Road in Smithfield around 8:15 p.m. Friday night, requiring a heavy response from fire crews.

Mutual aide was required from North Providence, North Smithfield, Johnston and Lincoln to battle the blaze.

The fire spread throughout the structure with heavy smoke emanating from the roof.

At this time it is unknown what caused the fire and if anyone was injured at the scene.
