Police ID man killed in Tiverton motorcycle accident

A man is dead following a motor vehicle accident in Tiverton Thursday afternoon.

The accident, involving an SUV and a motorcycle, happened at the intersection of Main Road and Pond Bridge Road.

Both operators were rushed to St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, where the motorcyclist, identified as 19-year-old Joseph Araujo, of Dartmouth, later died from his injuries.

The condition of the SUV driver, 56-year-old female Jeanne Thurston of Little Compton, is unknown. Police say she was wearing a seat belt.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Tiverton Police at (401) 625-6717.
