A Saunderstown family shows how they have fun with their son’s treatment for Flat Head Syndrome, by seeking an artist to decorate his helmet.
Logan Flynn, who is almost two years old, was diagnosed with Plagiocephaly, also known as Flat Head Syndrome, when he was just a few months old.
Plagiocephaly is a noticeable deformation that is correctable but doesn’t affect the brain.
The reason we see it more today is because parents are taught to put babies to sleep on their backs to prevent SIDS, the sudden death of an infant syndrome.
Flynn’s mother Melinda contacted the artist who painted murals on her children’s walls to help decorate what they called a boring helmet.
“We wanted to do something different and Laurinda took a look at Logan and his face and his features and came up with the really cool idea to do the knight in shining armor helmet,” said Melinda.
Shortly after his helmet was decorated, Logan became ‘Sir Logan’ of Saunderstown.
After several months of wearing the helmet Logan’s head is nice and round.
