Rhode Island is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. Around 100 veterans attended a ceremony at the state's World War II memorial in Providence Sunday.
They were greeted by a 6 foot statue of the ‘Kissing Soldier’— an iconic symbol of the end of the war.
"I’m very proud to be here. I'm proud to have served, and I’m proud of all the people that did serve," said Louisa White.
The statue is currently traveling across the state visiting nursing facilities so that vets who couldn't attend Sunday’s ceremony could see it.
