Crews retrieve submerged car in Providence River

Providence Police are investigating after a car was found fully submerged underwater off the shipyard near Collier Park.

Crews responded to the scene Henderson Avenue around 8:30 p.m. where the vehicle was located underwater. It took about two hours to retrieve the car.

Officials tell ABC6 there were no occupants in the vehicle, and they are unsure how it happened. Articles of clothing and other debris were visible floating in the water, and the trunk of vehicle was packed with clothing and sheets.
