Cranston Boys and Girls Advance in Regional Tournaments

The Cranston Western boys and Cranston National girls both won to advance in regional play on Thursday.  Cranston Western eliminated Massachusetts with the long ball in the New England Regional in Bristol.  Nick Mason hit a grand slam, Dave Marchetti and Jared Olson hit back to back homers to lift Cranston Western to an 11 to 4 victory.  Cranston plays Connecticut on Friday morning.  Connecticut beat the Rhode Island respresentative on Monday.

In the East Region 9 and 10 girls softball tournament in Pennsylvania, Cranston National Budlong advanced to the title game with a come from behind win over New York, 5 to 4.  The Cranston girls will face Delware for the East Region title on Friday afternoon.
