Department of Health recommends closing state park camping area

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – After high bacteria levels in the Burlingame State Park Camping Area in Charlestown, The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) is recommending closing it for swimming.
At the same time, RIDOH recommends re-opening Bristol Town Beach because the bacteria counts have returned to acceptable levels.
RIDOH also mentions in a recent release that Surfer’s End of Sachuest Beach in Middletown and Dyer Woods are to remain closed for swimming, while Burlingame Picnic Area beach and Sachuest main pavilion beach remains open for swimming.
RIDOH will continue to monitor the water quality regularly to assure safe bathing and swimming throughout the summer season.
