BARRINGTON, R.I. (June 30, 2015) – Two teams sit on top of the leaderboard after Monday’s first round of the 2015 CVS Health Charity Classic. New England natives and high school golf teammates Keegan Bradley and Jon Curran, and LPGA star Lexi Thompson and partner Harris English, finished at 11-under-par 60, one stroke ahead of Bill Haas and Webb Simpson.
Hot on their heels at 9-under-par are the co-ed team of Morgan Pressel and Russell Henley and two-time CVS Health Charity Classic champions Steve Stricker and Bo Van Pelt.
Closest to the Pin
Adding an exciting element to the tournament’s charitable component, Monday’s closest-to-the-pin contest was won by J.B. Holmes with 3′ 3” on hole 17, and earned $25,000 for the Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island, the tournament’s charity partner with which she was paired.
Afternoon Pro-Am Team Wins Pepsi Max Shootout
The afternoon shotgun team from Sunday’s Pepsi Pro-Am selected to play in the Pepsi Max Shootout edged out their morning shotgun competitors to win Monday’s Pepsi Max Amateur Shootout by three strokes.
