PawSox Director of Security Rick Medeiros Given International League Spirit Award

PawSox news release…

Today, the International League announced that the 2015 recipient of the Spirit of the International
League Award is long-time Pawtucket Red Sox Director of Security Rick Medeiros. The Award,
created in 2010, is designed to recognize the essential role filled by individuals who are dedicated to
helping make sure fans have the most enjoyable experience possible when visiting League ballparks.

Since 2000 Rick has been the ballclub's Director of Security, which began as a seasonal position but
quickly evolved into a full-time role as he became an integral member of the PawSox front office.
During game days, Rick leads his security and ushering staff to create the fan-friendly environment
that McCoy Stadium has become known for. He oversees the parking lots around McCoy, especially
relishing the responsibility of helping the elderly and those with disabilities make it to their seats.

Once the game starts he is a constant presence around the ballpark whether it be chatting with fans in
the stands, visiting groups in the barbecue party tents, or checking in with workers at the concession
stands. He does it all with a smile and good humor as the “face” of the PawSox game day staff.

After games Rick can be found working with the clubhouse staff to insure that players can meet with
autograph seekers in an orderly fashion as they leave the ballpark. He even makes sure the visiting
team bus is in position and appropriately loaded for a smooth departure. Rick is also a fixture in the
front office where he is an important member of the PawSox sales team, helping sell tickets, group
packages, and advertising sponsorships.

Rick shares his exploits with the team's fans through his award-winning blog on PawSox.com
entitled "Rollin' with Rick". However, his biggest claim to fame is what he does when the team goes
on the road. When the PawSox fly to away cities, Rick drives the club's equipment truck. Even with
challenging deadlines, Rick has never failed to have the team's gear ready for them when they arrive
at their destination.

The Spirit of the International League Award was created to help recognize individuals who work
tirelessly to enhance the fan experience and significantly contribute to the overall success of the
production that is today's Minor League Baseball game. International League ballparks are an
integral part of their team’s communities, and each season thousands of individuals dedicate
themselves on a nightly basis to helping fans have the most enjoyable experience possible. While
some are in more visible roles than others, each and every one of them is vital to the success of the
operation of their team and the League.
