A lengthy investigation into a Taunton-based heroin distribution ring has led to the arrest of twelve individuals Tuesday morning.

The eleven individuals charged with conspiracy to distribute heroin are Eddyberto Mejia Ramos, 22; Luis Iraola, 21; Maria Ramos, 43; Edwin Montalvo, 26; Saul Sanchez Rolon; Kerem Mendez Luz, 35; Antwuun Jones, 23; Shakur Russel, 22; Darius Jones, 23; Anthony Burt, 23, and Kayla Wentworth, 24, and all came from Providence, RI, Bridgewater, Fall River, Taunton, or Wareham.

The twelfth individual is Jean Wharf, 40, of Carver, and is being charged with using a telephone to facilitate a drug transaction.

The arrests came after an investigation, during which law enforcement watched Ramos sell heroin to a cooperating witness on several occasions in the fall of 2014.

Police uncovered the make up of Ramos’ organization through court authorized wiretaps.

According to the charging document, Ramos operated the heroin distribution ring out of his mothers house at 187 Winthrop Street in Taunton. Documents show his mother allegedly periodically assisted him in the distribution of heroin.

Court documents also explain how the operation is supposed to work. Mejia Ramos allegedly purchased heroin in large quantities from the wholesale suppliers who were Soto-Peguero, Sanquintin, Sanchez Rolon and Mendez Luz.

Ramos and his associates, Jones, Irola, and Montalvo, then allegedly distributed the heroin to lower level distributors and customers, including Burt, Wentworth, Russel, and Wharf.
