Chapel Grille to honor Faial’s gift cards

There is good news for the nearly 800 people stuck with gift cards they can't use after Faial's restaurants suddenly went out of business. Starting Monday, Cranston's Chapel Grille will honor gift cards from Faial's.

"It's like a dream at the end of a nightmare. I love Chapel Grille. It's close to my work. They have great food,” said Karen Paoleucci.

Paoleucci was one of hundreds to file a complaint with the Attorney General after learning that the gift cards she had purchased were worthless,

"I'm very hurt and I feel bad for a lot of the customers that were there. They went there because he had good food, he had good drinks. He wasn't always the pleasant guy but he always took care of his customers,” said Paoleucci.

Chapel Grille’s assistant manager tells us they heard what happened and decided to step in.

"We figured it might be a nice thing to do in honoring those gift certificates because those people bought them in good faith and they ended up with a piece of paper that's worth nothing now,” said Tim Filippou. "Anytime you run a business you want to get as many people through the doors as you possibly can. And, it gives people an opportunity to come here."

Filippou says at least a dozen people have already made reservations at Chapel Grille. The offer is valid from next Monday through the end of August. Customers can only use one gift card at a time with a value up to $100.
