Providence police are investigating an incident where one man was injured after being hit with a bat Friday morning.

Police tell ABC 6 Jose Rivera, 46, whose residence is not immediately available, was injured after a male hit him with a wooden baseball bat when confronting him about dating his girl behind Fabian’s Liquors on Cranston Street at about 2 a.m. on July 24th.

The male suspect, who was familiar to Rivera, shouted “You’re dating my girl, and I want her back, before striking him multiple times.

Rivera was transported to Rhode Island Hospital and says he doesn’t know what the man was talking about. His condition is unknown.
