Accident knocks down utility pole in Smithfield

An accident in Smithfield has shut down a portion of Pleasant View Ave after a utility pole was knocked down.
Police say the accident happened around 10:30 a.m. when it appears a flatbed truck hit the pole.
A portion of the road is closed in the area of Log Road as National Grid crew work to repair the utility pole.
Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
