Warwick police warn public of phone scam

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE)- The Warwick Police Department is warning the public about a phone scam.

Police said that they have gotten multiple reports of someone pretending to be a member of the department, telling the public that money is owed for traffic infractions, and that it must be paid immediately over the phone.

The department said that the caller is not a member, and that anyone who gets a call should report it.
