Rear end crash leads to vehicle fire, highway shutdown on I-95 South

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- A large response from emergency vehicles was required on I-95 South to respond to a vehicle that was engulfed in flames.

ABC6 News Crews were on the scene near Exit 22, where all four lanes were backed up for miles as crews washed the vehicle down.

Rhode Island State Police confirmed with ABC6 News that a rear end collision between two vehicles resulted in one engulfed in flames.

Both operators were able to exit their vehicles, and were transported to Rhode Island Hospital for evaluation.

The lanes were re-opening by 11:40 p.m. as crews cleared the highway of damage.

Police also confirmed no arrests were made.
