PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ A Rhode Island man is being held without bail after pleading not guilty to charges he killed a 55-year-old man last year and stole his car.
Fifty-three-year-old Louis Sinapi of Cranston pleaded not guilty Wednesday to murder and drug charges at his arraignment in Providence Superior Court.
Police say Sinapi stabbed John Fiore in December 2014 and stole his Chevy Impala a few days after being released from prison. Fiore's body was discovered by his sister inside his apartment.
Prosecutors say Sinapi also had morphine and oxymorphone.
He has been held at a Rhode Island correctional institute for violating probation on an unrelated charge. A bail hearing is scheduled for Sept. 10.
