Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE)- Cumberland firefighters battled a second floor fire inside a home on Beamis Avenue Monday night.

Cumberland Fire Chief Nicholas Anderson confirmed the details surrounding the blaze with ABC6 News.

The fire originated from the second floor of the house, one member of the household noticing the smell while on the first floor.

The quick response from crews helped to keep the fire from spreading throughout the house and exterior.

Mutual aid crews were called in as a precaution due to the cold weather.

The house sustained substantial damage, no injuries were sustained and the family will be staying with relatives.

It is believed that the cause of the fire is electrical, but investigations continue.
