Five year old Sebastian Calado didn’t get a summer last year. In July he was diagnosed with t–cell leukemia. He was forced to spend over a month straight in the hospital. And ever since then he knew he wanted one thing.
“And so when we were contacted by make a wish, he wanted a pool,” his mother said.
Using donations, Make a Wish Massachusetts Rhode Island was able to purchase Sebastian his very own pool. Pools Plus in Johnston started work on it early this morning, filling it with water just in time for the big reveal.
Though shy at first, Sebastian is already enjoying pool time with his dad and two younger brothers. His parents can’t thank make a wish Mass RI enough for helping to make this possible.
“When I can’t make him smile, this pool will make him smile,” his mother Michelle said. “And that is hard as a mom to watch your son cry and be sad. And this pool: it brought him joy at some of his lowest points. Some out our lowest points.“
“I love my pool!” Sebastian yelled after getting in for the first time.
