WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) _ Two brothers are facing multiple drug charges after Woonsocket police say they caught the men with 77 grams of cocaine, 19 grams of marijuana and nearly $12,000 in cash.
Authorities say 31-year-old Jose Alicea, of Lincoln, swallowed a bag of cocaine when police tried to arrest him Wednesday afternoon. He was being treated at Rhode Island Hospital.
Authorities say Alicea and his 28-year-old brother, Jesus Alicea of Woonsocket, were charged with possession with intent to deliver drugs, distributing a controlled substance near a school and obstructing police.
Jesus Alicea was arraigned Thursday in District Court and ordered held without bail. No one answered the phone at his lawyer's office Friday.
Jose Alicea hasn't yet been arraigned due to his medical condition. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.
