Bristol Police will use a new rapid emergency notification system as an added safety measure during the 4th of July Parade.
CodeRED will be used statewide to deliver critical safety alerts anyone who signs up, such as evacuations, boil water notices, or amber alerts.
The alert uses a unique mapping capability that allows for the geographic targeting of calls and a high speed calling system that can customize emergency messages to users.
Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA) Director Peter Gaynor says, “The CodeRED system will provide us with the ability to quickly deliver messages to targeted areas or the entire state, depending on the severity and extent of an emergency or disaster.”
Bristol will be using CodeRED to send parade-related information to users.
