New Bedford to lift mask mandate in government buildings

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE)- New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell announced on Wednesday that the city’s municipal buildings will no longer be requiring masks starting on Friday.

Mitchell said that the mask policy in buildings such as City Hall and public libraries, is slated to be lifted at 4 p.m.

New Bedford had just 17 reported cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.

The city’s mask policy had been in effect since August of 2021.
