Suspect arrested after shots fired in New Bedford neighborhood

NEW BEDFORD, MASS. (WLNE)- Police have arrested one suspect after shots were fired in a New Bedford neighborhood Wednesday night.

New Bedford Police have identified the suspect as 21-year-old Marcus Hubbard.

At approximately 6pm, detectives were traveling north on S. Second St., near the Delano St. intersection when they heard shots fired from two blocks behind them.

The two detectives exited their cruiser and made their way towards the sound of the gunshots.

Detectives observed a male suspect running from the scene, through a nearby driveway.

The suspect was arrested by the detectives as offices began arriving to the location to assist.

Multiple shell casings were discovered in the area of S. Second St.

A loaded handgun, reported stolen out of Tennessee, was located in a nearby garbage bin.

Hubbard is being charged with carrying a loaded firearm without license, receiving stolen property, damage to property, and trespassing.
