Connecticut man sentenced to prison for robbery in Westerly

A Connecticut man has been sentenced in Providence on Thursday for robbing a branch office of the Washington Trust Company in Westerly in 2014.

Lawrence M. Sullivan, 36, of Pawcatuck, Conn was sentenced on June 18th in the U.S. District Court to 70 months in federal prison for stealing from a branch office of the Washington Trust Company in Westerly.

Sullivan was ordered to serve three years of supervised release following the completion of his prison term after he pleaded guilty on March 2nd to one count of bank robbery.

Sullivan admitted to approaching a teller at the office and demanding cash. 

The teller says Sullivan threatened to “start shooting” if he didn’t get what he wanted and the teller gave him $1,049.

Police found Sullivan in the closet of a motel in Groton and arrested him on September 16, 2014.

He was serving three years of federal supervised release after pleading guilty to two counts of bank robbery.

He completed 63 months in federal prison for robbing two banks in Connecticut and one in Maine.
