Man in wheelchair killed in fatal hit-and-run in Worcester

WORCESTER, Mass. (WLNE)- A man in a wheelchair died following a hit-and-run that happened early on Friday morning, according to the city’s police department.

Police said that officers found the 52-year-old man and his heavily damaged wheelchair at the scene on Boylston Street at around 3:45 a.m.

The man was taken to a local hospital, where was was later pronounced dead.

Investigators said that 40-year-old Charles Brant had been driving his truck when he hit the man in the wheelchair.

Brant then got out of his truck for just over a minute before leaving the scene.

Police arrested Brant at his home later that day, charging him with leaving the scene of a collision causing death.
