Officials say the cat was brought in by a volunteer who found him between Social Street and 268 to 290 Rathbun Street for medical treatment and to be neutered when they discovered the cat showed signs of rabies.

The cat tested positive for rabies and was euthanized. He was a thin brown tabby who lived in a feral colony.
