A 29-year-old Brockton man was sentenced Tuesday for killing two Boston men and wounding a third in a 2009 shooting on a Providence street.

Nigel Nichols also was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences plus 40 years after being convicted in February.

Nichols was convicted of shooting the victims as they sat at a stoplight in their car. Twenty-two-year-old David Thomas and his friend 21-year-old Domingo Ortiz, were killed. Thomas’ then 18-year-old brother Dwayne was wounded.

The three had driven from Boston to a Providence nightclub and were headed home. Prosecutors said Nichols shot them because he’d been teased earlier by friends about not being tough enough.
