Raimondo to meet with PawSox owners

By News Staff
Governor Raimondo is making plans to talk about the future of the PawSox with the team’s ownership group soon.
Raimondo said Friday that talks about the proposed stadium had been suspended as the team mourns the loss of their principle owner, Jim Skeffington.
The Governor said discussions between the club and the state will soon be starting back up with co-owner Larry Lucchino, who is now at the center of the talks.
“My team is meeting with him today and we intend to pick up the discussions and see where it goes,” explained Raimondo.
She says she wants to see the team stay in Rhode Island and is willing to work to make a stadium deal in Providence happen, as long as it’s in the best interest of tax-payers.
