PROVIDENCE – As friends and family mourn Pawsox head Jim Skeffington, his death is raising new questions about the future of the ball-club in Rhode Island.
More than 150 people turned out to Monday night’s community forum to discuss their thoughts on the stadium proposal. The majority of them were against it. Around 20 people signed up to speak to the crowd and only three people spoke in favor of the proposal.
City Councilor Sam Zurier isn’t sure yet how – and if – Skeffington’s death will affect the stadium proposal. “That’s obviously going to introduce a note of uncertainty in the process and we’ll have to see how it plays out,” he explained.
About a week ago, the city council invited the PawSox owners to speak with them, but Zurier said they haven’t heard back yet.
