The Fall River Police department investigates two similar incidents where a male suspect approaches people and assaults them with a knife.

Police responded on May 1 at 6:35 pm to the area of Peckham Street where a 9 year old girl says a man approached her while playing in her yard with a friend asking if she wanted to get inside a van for some candy.

Officials observed the girl had a scratch on her arm where she states the suspect threw a knife at her when she yelled. The male fled on foot.

The victim described the male as white with long hair, 5’7” to 5’9”, wearing black clothes, a green plaid jacket and in his twenties.

Police responded on May 1 at 11:20 pm to Tedeshi’s store on East Main Street where an 18 year old female said she let a male who approached her by foot borrow her cell phone and was assaulted.

The male suspect asked to borrow her phone and walked away with it as he was using it. When the victim followed him he grabbed her and put a knife to her neck.

He took her several blocks away until she was able to push away and get far. He then got into a blue mini van that was following him.

The victim described the male to be 5’8” to 5’10”, white with brown eyes in his early to mid twenties with dark pants and a dark hooded sweatshirt.

The Fall River Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact the Major Crimes Division at 508-324-2796 or the TIPs Line at 508-672-8477.
