Man arrested for reckless driving on school grounds

The Portsmouth Police department responds to an incident where a vehicle was recklessly driving on Portsmouth Middle School grounds while students were being dismissed to go home.

Police responded to Portsmouth Middle School on April 30, at 2:48 pm where a witness said a vehicle, which was occupied by one person, was traveling recklessly on the school’s soccer field and on a private yard adjacent to the soccer field. The field and private yard both sustained damages.

The witness also said they estimated the driver to be driving in excess of 50 mph. The students at the time were being released from school and boarding the busses as staff members supervised them.

The reckless driving resulted in the driver side air bag deploying.

According to witness information, Police arrived at the vehicle registration residence at 3:57 pm where it was discovered the owner of the vehicle was a victim.

Officials located Ryan Deblois, 34, whose residence is unavailable, at the same location who said he was the driver of the vehicle.

Deblois had an active bench warrant held without bail for his arrest for failure to appear for a status review.

Police arrested Deblois and transported him to the ACI.

Deblois will be charged with reckless driving, 3 counts of disorderly conduct and vandalism. He is scheduled to appear in the Second Division District Court on May 4.
