A student of Johnson & Wales University has filed a complaint in Providence County Superior court after suffering serious injuries from a fraternity’s hazing.

Pledge, Terrance Bennett, claims that that hazing activities conducted by the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) chapter at the university resulted in serious injuries, and now he is suing the fraternity and some of its members.

Madeline Parmenter of JWU Media Relations tells ABC6 in a statement that the hazing activities happened off-campus, but upon learning of the activities, the university promptly informed the community about the alleged behavior.

RWU also imposed an interim suspension before ultimately banning the fraternity from the university in December of 2014.

The university states that hazing is strictly prohibited by the student code of conduct, and all alleged incidents of hazing are reviewed pursuant to the conduct review process.
