Two years to the day after two bombs exploded at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, Cape Cod resident, Carol Hamblet Adams is hoping her new song Boston Strong, Boston Proud, will help inspire those forever impacted by the attacks.
“I decided that maybe writing a song about the Boston Marathon would maybe help me heal a little bit and maybe even a little better than that it might help somebody else,” said Hamblet Adams.
Hamblet Adams was standing across the street from Marathon Sports when the first bomb exploded.
“When that first bomb went off I first of all did not realize what it was and when the second bomb went off that’s when I knew it was an act of terror,” said Hamblet Adams.
The now 71-year-old says the bombings have had a profound impact on her life.
“I would say I suffered from a lot of survivors guilt. I think I felt guilty that I wasn’t across the street and able to help people,” said Hamblet Adams.
She started writing the song about a year ago. The official release date was last week, the same day Dzohkhar Tsarnaev was convicted for the attacks.
She dedicated her song to the four killed and former Mayor Tom Menino for his strength following the bombings.
Hamblet Adams will be performing her song at Marathon Sports at 7pm on this second anniversary.
The song is available on ITunes. All proceeds will go to the Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Foundation at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
