An East Providence teen has been indicted and charged with conspiracy, sex trafficking of a child, and transportation of a minor.
A Federal Grand Jury returned a six-count indictment on the charges of 19-year-old Reginald Chaney on Wednesday, saying he allegedly conspired to recruit, transport, and coerce two minor females to engage in commercial sex acts.
In January of 2015, Chaney met to females, ages 15 and 16, and drove them to an East Providence and a Seekonk, MA, residence where their photographs were taken for the purpose of being displayed on a website called Backpage.
On several occasions that month, Chaney is also accused of arranging meetings between the victims and individuals who responded to the advertisements on Backpage, offering the females for commercial sexual activity. The meetings occurred at motels in Seekonk, MA, Providence, Warwick, Charlestown, and Narragansett.
Chaney was arrested in East Providence by East Providence Police on January 29th. He is currently being held in Rhode Island State custody as a Superior Court probation violator.
An arraignment date has not yet been scheduled.
